I think many Dutchmen don't realize how great riding a bike is because it is so common over here. The feeling of freedom when the wind blows through your hair is incredible :) I'm planning to bike from Washington, DC to Montréal next summer. I hope it'll be a great way to discover America. Perhaps I'll also join couchsurfing. Cheaper than paying campsites. And I admire the way you easily blend in with other groups of people. While they always say it's as easy as "just doing it", I tend too feel somewhat lost in big cities abroad. While you have lots of interesting conversations, I also have lots of conversations that run awkwardly because of misunderstandings or my epic fail at understanding the local variety of vernacular English.
